Infinite Obsession

I happened to be in Argentina during Malba's retrospective of the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama. The exhibition brought Kusama's polka dot mania to Buenos Aires - the big red dots were everywhere: on cars, trees, billboards. Curious and anxious visitors queued outside the museum to visit the exhibition everyone was talking about.

This was the biggest exhibition of the Japanese artist in Latin America. Curated by Philip Larrat-Smith and Frances Morris, the retrospective took the visitor on a journey through Kusama's troubled mind. Multicolour polka dot installations, a colour-chainging light room, paintings, photographs and audiovisual installations told the story of Yayoi Kusama and her singular vision.

Sadly the works are no longer on display at Malba museum, however, it will be travelling around South America and the next stop is Rio de Janeiro (Oct. 2013 - Jan. 2013). Here are some snapshots of the show!
